About Ramsgate Beach

Ramsgate Main Sands sits just east of the Royal Harbour — the only Royal Harbour in the UK — making it a unique town beach with a working marina backdrop and cafés lining the promenade.

Good to know: the beach catches early sunshine and is about 250 m long, with the Royal Victoria Pavilion on the seafront.

Getting there

Train & bus

  • Train: Southeastern (HS1 from St Pancras; classic from Victoria) to Ramsgate — around a 15 minute walk to the sands.
  • Bus: The Thanet Loop and Route 9 serve the Harbour/Leopold Street area for short hops to/from the station and Westwood Cross.

  • Lifeguards (2025): Weekends & Bank Holidays 24 May–13 July, then daily 19 July–7 Sept, 10am–6pm. Always swim between red–yellow flags.
